Since I really hate crappy pictures of what I'm working on crochet-wise, and I've been super distracted by a couple songs this weekend, without further ado, here's the second edition of Songs of the Week. Two songs are by metalcore outfit The Amity Affliction. And I. Am. Smitten with them. *starry eyes* And then there's a song (and apparently a very popular one at that!) by a staple of mine, Bring Me The Horizon.
The lyric video that I've posted here for Open Letter is WAY better than the original music video. Like, by leaps and bounds. I love what they did here with all the awesome tattoos. Especially because the lyrics to this song are AMAZING, and tattooing them like this, putting these perfect words on skin... so much symbolism! And it kinda makes me wanna run out and make a certain somebody tattoo me. Probably of "I'm not searching the sky / for a reason to live." That means a lot to me. I'm a bit of an atheist/humanist. So, all around? LOVE.
More by The Amity Affliction -- this one's called Skeletons. The video was released only a month ago, and like Open Letter, the song itself brings a crazy intense sound, and even more brilliant lyrics. I won't bore you with my interpretation of them or why I love them (although leave a comment if you want me to, and I'd be happy to oblige with the next post -- I love me some lyrical interpretation). And when this song hits 2:57? I'm just like, yesssssssssss!
Okay, next. Happy Song by BMTH!
Okay, next. Happy Song by BMTH!
I really want to point out the juxtaposition between the lyrics, especially the intro and outro, the title, and that *sound*. Ahhhh I love this song! It makes me so happy, because it's NOT happy in tone, it's hardcore and completely badass. Doesn't that make you wonder?? I sense a little irony with a dash of social commentary, don't you? ;) God, I love BMTH!
Anyways. Until next time! Stay tuned, and leave a comment if you like! :)
