To kick off this blog, I figured I'd give everyone a glimpse into what I'm currently working on. 'Tis a work in progress pattern for fingerless gloves. So, why is it a work in progress? Three reasons. 1) The palm of the glove needs to be a bit longer. 2) I need a pattern for size small/medium (the current pattern accommodates a large glove size). And 3)? The yarn I am currently working with (Red Heart Boutique Midnight) is a wool blend, hand wash ONLY (which makes me terribly sad!), lay flat to dry type of yarn. While it is sparkly and gorgeous, care is also a big pain in the bum.
If only I had read the wash/dry label before choosing this yarn! So, what's to be done about this? Finish the left hand glove (which is nearly done) and call this pair finished.
I've chosen a very soft, 100% acrylic yarn to replace the current one. Bonus: 100% acrylic is machine washable and dryer safe! My twin sister conveniently has size medium hands, so this pair will most definitely be for her. Making the second pair will allow me to tweak the pattern and come up with the proper stitch count for a small/medium, allowing the pattern to be used by everyone!
An added plus: since this yarn lacks the slightly wispy quality of the Red Heart Boutique, the stitch definition will be much more beautiful for all to behold!
The big question: will I be posting this pattern for free, for all to enjoy?
Yes. I absolutely will. So stay tuned, more to come!
